FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COME AND HEAR A JAZZ AND POPS CONCERT CELEBRATING LOVE

Acton, MA - January 14, 2025

Join the Nashoba Valley Chorale (NVC) on Saturday and Sunday, February 1 and February 2, 2025, for concerts that will explore various aspects of love in our Program, What Is This Thing Called Love?  Led by Conductor and Music Director Anne Watson Born and showcasing local jazz musicians from Groton and the surrounding area, this program is sure to delight its guests.

Program Highlights:

The Chorale will perform classic songs by Jerome Kern, Cole Porter and Duke Ellington, along with contemporary pieces by Bill Withers and Peter Eldridge and is joined by a jazz trio, led by NVC's collaborative pianist and accomplished jazz musician, Shawn McCann. The jazz trio, made up of bass player Justin Meyer and drummer Abe Finch, will also play some instrumental standards and will perform with our talented Emerging Artist, Sofia Santoro.

The singers will also perform Birthday Madrigals, a set of jazz-inspired settings of texts by Shakespeare and other Elizabethan-era poets. John Rutter composed these pieces (very much in the style of the Swingle Singers) to celebrate the 75th birthday of the jazz pianist George Shearing. And, somewhat unusually, the performance will also include Morten Lauridsen’s lush and evocative Les Chansons des Roses.

Event Details:

• Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 7:30 pm at the Acton Congregational Church, 12 Concord Road, Acton, MA, 01720

• Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 3:00 pm at the Groton-Dunstable Performing Arts Center, 344 Main Street, Groton, MA 01450

Ticket Information:
